ACERCA DE AQUAFREESOUL
Hi, i'm Astrid Carolina Mendieta, from Nicaragua-Honduras, based in Lake Tahoe, California.
My journey with art wasn’t obvious or linear, it was actually born from struggle, loss, and a deep search for meaning.
In 2015, I opened a juice bar with my brother, believing I had found my purpose but a year later, we closed it, and I fell into a deep depression.
I tried everything, therapy, yoga, or meditation, but nothing filled the void. One day I heard that mandalas helped with mental health, so I gave it a try. With every brushstroke, I felt lighter, as if art was slowly guiding me back to life.
But my search wasn’t over. In Honduras, I still felt I needed to know my "purpose", so I attended a spiritual ceremony that changed everything. I had a clear vision of my future—teaching, traveling, and sharing my art with the world.
For the first time, I knew exactly why I was here.
I fled to Nicaragua with excitement and launched my art business. What started with success and momentum, soon took a turn when a
In 2018, a political conflict forced me to flee Nicaragua.
I arrived in California and set art aside, working as a waitress, farmer, and house cleaner. but little by little, I felt like something inside me was dying.
Art, which had already helped me out of depression in the past, kept calling me, and I knew that if I returned to it, I could reconnect with my purpose and my soul.
That's when I enrolled in a one year intensive art program at the Milan Art Institute and within just 3 months, I was selling my art again.
Since, I’ve taught art to over 700 students across four countries and sold my art to collectors worldwide.
Art has been my path to healing, and now, it’s my mission to help others reconnect with their creativity, spirit, and purpose.
If you’re ready to use art as a tool for transformation, join me. Explore my workshops, mentorships, or bring a piece of my art into your home.
Thanks for being here <3
with love,
Carolina
